The original Commuter that i bought from Walmart was horribly bad. The silicone mold did not fit at all! I tried several others at Walmart...all no good. Otterbox sent me another one. The 2nd one fits perfectly.
The screen protector is actually quite nice. Crystal clear. Very smooth to slide your finger across. There is rainbow effect at certain angles, but this does NOT impact on the crystal clarity of the screen.
The hard plastic shell does have some semi-sharp edges, but overall, does not bother me at all.
Signal reception seems perfect with the case on.
Pros: Durable, screen protector
Cons: Low quality

The iPhone 5 Defender Series case was built to endure demanding conditions, heavy use and random accidents. Three layers of protection include a plastic interior shell that cushions the device while a built-in screen shield prevents scratches, scrapes and smudges. The outer rubber slipcover fits snugly around the inner shell, creating a practically indestructible case for your iPhone. A holster is included and doubles as a kickstand for viewing. Otterbox really outdid themselves this time!! Every aspect (weakness) of 4S Defender was improved upon.
1. The case is lighter (but NOT because of cheap quality)
2. The holster is perfect now...easy to install the phone...solid connection. (With the 4S case, you can place the phone in the holster and it would not lock right because it was slightly crooked.)
3. The screen protector is crystal clear!!!!!!!! Finally, i can see the Retina Display in all its beauty! Previously, i had to poke out the horrible protector and install a Zagg.
4. The case rubber/silicone is super high quality...way better than before! It feels like satin finished hard plastic. Fit is perfect...no loose ends.
5. Camera hole is huge!
Thanks again Otterbox...i had doubts before with the 4S case...but this one is out of the park in terms of design and quality!
Pros: High quality, Durable, crystal clear protector, high quality rubber, lightweight

HOT SELLER: Get 'em while you can! The iPhone 4 / 4S Defender Series case provides heavy duty protection against drops, dust and damage without taking away from the usability of the iPhone's features. The iPhone 4S Defender Series case offers triple-layer protection and is built from a high-impact polycarbonate shell, durable silicone slipcover and a built-in screen protector, making it one of the toughest cases for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Why else do you think we called it the Defender Series? Want to build your own? Check out our Defender Series Build Your Own iPhone 4 / 4S case .

I just got this Otterbox for my Iphone 4s (Sprint). It is what you have seen...a very well made product. Otterbox makes high quality stuff. And yes, i did get the updated design with the big camera cutout. Everyone can tell you the goods about the Otterbox. I am not here to repeat those things. I am here to tell you about ONE MAJOR FLAW:
The problem is that when you put your iphone into the holster, you better be sure that NOTHING is caught in it. In other words, if your shirt tail is in between the holster and the Iphone, then the iphone is NOT clipped in!! It may feel like it is clipped in, but as soon as you turn and your shirt pulls out (of the holster), your Iphone goes flying out! This happened while i was walking and i heard my iphone dropped to the ground. The case itself protected my Iphone well. I was lucky...not because the case protected my Iphone, BUT because i heard it fall! If i was in a busy building, then i would have lost my Iphone because i would not be able to hear my iphone dropping to the ground. So, these days, i have to conciously pull my shirt all the way up with one hand before inserting the Iphone into the holster with the other hand. 2 hand method. Forget about rapidly holstering your Iphone with this. Now, if you tuck your shirt in everyday, then you may get away with this Otterbox...but, be careful if your shirt is not tucked in tight!! A loose tuck can result in part of the shirt getting b/w the holster and your iphone....
Other minor negatives:
- The screen protector does dull the beautiful retina screen a bit, but functionality remains excellent. This was expected and i did not mind at all.
- Bulky...when i sit in my car and strap my seatbelt in, i can feel the holster/case pressing against my side hip bone...maybe a comfort issue on long drives.
- It is kinda hard to clip the case onto the holster, unless you slide it in perfect. Just a little to the left or right and you will not be able to clip it in.
So, i think that the product is very well made. The new rubber surround is very high quality. But, the flying Iphone issue has made me look for other alternatives. This is sad for me because i have high respect for Otterbox...i bought cases from them for my Ipod Touch 3rd and 4th gens.
Hope this helps.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: flying iphone syndrome
