While driving down highway 300 in Santa Fe, NM I saw an object flying off the car after hitting a small pot hole. Was that my iPhone4S? – nah couldn’t be, no way. So we called my phone using my wife's phone and couldn’t hear it so I assumed it was in the RV about 4 miles up the road. So off to the RV we go stopping by the pot hole and looking around and didn’t find anything there so at the RV we looked and called the phone again and nothing heard.
So I used “Find My Phone” app and it showed that it was down the road by the pot hole. So off we go and stop near the phone location and started looking. I pressed the play a sound button and I could hear the phone beeping way down the side of the road. I finally found it laying on a bush about 20 feet down off the side of the road.
I have an Otter box Defender case which is advertised as the strongest and best on the market. Well, I can support that claim as NOTHING was wrong with the phone – remember, I saw it bouncing down the road (we were going 60 MPH and had left the phone on the roof of the car). The OtterBox case was cracked near the charge/sync connection area but intact with no other damage. Best purchase I've made after buying my iPhone
