Let me first say that otterbox has bent over backwards to to help me. As I have read many reviews about the screen going dark during a conversation but NOT lighting up when the phone is removed from the side of your head(after ending the call, but the OTHER person had to hang up). Let me say...I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, now the phone is fully functional and still protected just like from the factory. A little history might be in order, I ordered the armor case the first day it was available for the S3. It arrived and the first day I realized the problem above, so I called Otterbox, took pictures as required by them, and they sent another one without asking for the first one back (this has happened twice so now I have 3 cases). SO...now the the problem and THE FIX... The large oval hole around the sensor next to the round camera hole is the problem...the hole has been cut straight down through the plastic (which is pretty thick... leaving a high, straight edge, ledge that is to tall so it blocks the light getting to the sensor. THE SOLUTION... I took an Exacto knife and cut away just "the ledge" resulting in a hole that now has an approx. 45 degree angle side all the way around...DON'T cut the screen protector by accident...after this hole has been "trimmed out" everything works perfectly just DON'T CUT THE CLEAR PLASTIC UNDER THE HOLE! You still want the case to be waterproof AND IT IS if done correctly.
