I got a new iphone5S so I NEEDED a "baby proof" phone. My last iPhone5 was just in a regular Defender otterbox, it was dumped in the toilet. on the Defender series it has many openings directly to the phone, so when it went in the toilet it was toast. not even the rice trick saved the iPhone.
So I got a Preserver, I wanted/needed a waterproof case. and I was still very pleased with OtterBox's great quality and durable cases. I didn't want LifeProof because 1. I've seen too many bad reviews about it and I'm paying for quality, not quantity. I spent a lot on my smart phone, I wanted to spend a good amount to protect it.
LOVE this case, its just as strong an sturdy as the original otterbox defender, not bulky. I don't have an issue with the thumb ID button, doesn't drop calls, screen cover is thin as plastic wrap but hard as glass.
Ive had it for a few months and it could use some adjustments....
Their's some foam padding on the inside flaps, I assume this is for extra security to keep water from getting in. These foam padding's have worn off from me constantly opening and closing them. I do have to open the bottom flaps every time I'm on the phone so whoever I'm on the phone with can actually hear me. But its not much of an inconvenience.
The toggle switch on the side of my phone to Mute/Unmute is a disaster. Its so worn out from me fighting with it to Unmute my phone that part of the rubber plastic has pulled away from the hard plastic. making it vulnerable for water to get in. Which doesn't make me happy. =(
But it will work long enough to if my phone gets dumped in water again it will preserve it long enough for me to save it from a watery grave.
I suggest to OtterBox maybe using some silicone on parts that may be used often? like the toggle switch? and have separate part's ready for replacing if needed. Like my Preserver flaps?
Overall great quality protector and I STRONGLY recommend it, especially for those who have toddlers who run off with their phone.
