This box is slim and yet seems very shock protective. Nice. Fits like a Super Hero's Body Armor. And looks that way too. Coolest thing ever. Right tool for the job.
Pros: High quality, Durable

How does the fingerprint ID work with case?

I can not tell by the pictures shown, but is the touch ID sensor exposed? Or is it covered by something?
It's covered by a very thin, but durable, membrane. It's as if it's not even there. I like the fact that NO dirt gets through here. None.

Does TouchID work?

When the case is on, is there a passthrough for touch ID to work on the home button? The case images looks like it could, but the tech specs or the blurb do not explicitly mention this. I need this to work to purchase the case.
The skin over the Touch ID is thin and durable. It's as if it's not even there. This was my concern too. But absolutely no issues.

Is this case snow-proof? If not, in what way, or for what reason, is it not?

Yes. But like with any electronics, a bit of condensation will occur inside if you move into an environment of great temperature change. Best performance will occur once the iPhone has adjusted to its ambient temperature. Just give it a few minutes with each climate change. Protect it from rapid temperature changes, as with any electronics for best consistent performance. Treat it as your baby.

Is the case waterproof when the headphone jack is being used?

No. Think of this case as very good insurance as you carry it around. If you listen to music while over water, I recommend buying Bluetooth Sportsman headsets. But some splashing protection will exist regardless.

Are the port covers on the bottom hinged with a metal pin or with a plastic/rubber connection?

They are hinged by a very durable harder rubber. Very strong, seems like it take a lifetime of cycling.

Does the Preserver case require an adapter to plug in headphones into the jack? Secondly, would an "L" shaped headphone pin fit into the jack?

No but you might want the audio controls. And it's not designed to be watertight while headsets are plugged in. The L shape plug can work if the casing around the tip is slim. The plastic on the L must be 1/4 inch in circumference or less and 1/8 inch in length before the bend starts. Perhaps 3/16th to be real safe. You may need to do trial and error. Hope this helps.

Will the fingerprint scan still work on the iPhone 5s if the case is on?

Yes, like a charm. It's like it's not even there. I was impressed.

Silent Button

Does anyone have a problem using this silent button? I had bought this case and could not get the button to work and was wondering if everyone has this problem or if mine was defective.
The original button takes some pressure as it slides sideways vs straight down. So you have to provide some increased firm pressure to the case button to get the iPhone button to slide. Don't worry, I'm sure they designed it for this. If it every stops sliding, and it should not, send it back.

Does this case need constant drying?

Whenever the case (and the phone) gets soaked in water, be it the pool, taking a shower, or getting caught in rain, does it need to be taken apart and dried again, or will the seals keep water from gradually seeping in? I don't want to warp the plastic or loosen the seals by constantly opening the case.
Not that I've seen. Once it's in. It's in. No reason to take it apart, although you can use a coin to easily re-open it if needed. But no need.

can you have it in your pocket when you are in the pool

Test it before placing the phone inside it. I'm sure the less you submerge it, the better. Clorine and salt water will eventually ware on the hard rubber and water-tight seal washers inside. Think of the case as insurance, not an underwater case.
