I'm not usually one to write product reviews, but this case deserves it.
There are two important things you should know about me. One - I am a total klutz; and two - I am terribly vain.
So when I got my beautiful new blue iPhone 5c, I faced a dilemma. Do get a big boxy case to combat my butterfingers, or do I show off the phone and just try to be really, REALLY careful? Well, I chose the latter, and within a month, I was in the phone repair shop spending copious amounts of money and mentally kicking myself.
That night I researched new cases and saw that this one had been released. I loved the matching colors, I loved the slim design, and I loved that it was made by Otterbox. I did wonder if it would be as durable as, say, the Defender case, but the vanity again won out.
Let me tell you, this case is well worth the money. I have dropped my phone off its face several times now, and each time, my phone escapes totally unscathed. At this point, dropping my phone on concrete elicits only a mild reaction, since I know it's going to be okay. That peace of mind is wonderful.
TL;DR - Get this phone case if you want protection without sacrificing style.
Pros: High quality, Durable, stylish, slim design, easy to hold, color is true to iphone 5c colors

is the Symmetry series as protective as the Defender Series?

I have the defender for years. IF i put any other case my phone gets destroyed. I love being outdoors and doing outdoor Activity's. Nothing has hold up as well as the defender series. I would like something a little thinner.
That was also my dilemma, and I went with the Symmetry line. Since then I have dropped my phone on its face on concrete several times and it has escaped without a scratch. If you're juggling with your phone, keep the Defender; otherwise I would encourage you to try the Symmetry, I love mine. Much thinner, slides easily in and out of pockets.

Do the ports (for charging and earphones) have a cover?

No cover flaps. I like that the earphone jack hole is wide enough to fit my auxiliary cable in my car without removing the case.
