The case does a great job of covering and protecting my Galaxy note 8.0. It gives the tablet some "substance", since the tablet itself is pretty minimal. The ports are all well covered and the flaps are easy to manipulate. Charging cords all fit very well. The hard stand/cover is configured well, giving you many angles to rest the tablet in. The only problem I had was the "ears" that connect the hard stand to the case broke after a few months of average use. Otterbox was great at providing a replacement, hopefully it was an isolated issue. I've used many Otterbox tablet and phone cases and this is one of the best designed models.
Pros: High quality, Durable, good design
Cons: tray/cover connections to case weak

What is the exact weight of the 2 parts of the Otterbox Defender case for the Samsung Note 8?

The otterbox looks very capable of protecting the Note, but can anyone tell us how heavy the 2 components are? and if it causes any strain when holding the device up with one hand?
The weight of the two pieces is pretty minimal. I carry the Note 8.0 with me everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, and it's not a problem. In fact, I think the case actually provides some needed "substance" to the tablet. Before the case, I was afraid I'd drop the darn thing since it was so light and thin. Now when I hold it, I really can hold it. I don't have any trouble holding it with one hand, with or without the stand attached.
If you want to minimize weight, loose the stand. It's not really necessary to protect the screen all the time, and I really don't use it on the go. I prefer to use the stand if I'm storing the tablet in a bag for a long time or if I'm actually using it as a stand.

The two pieces do make the tablet a little heavier, but I think in a good way.
