This case has not been my best experience. Whether it was a design or manufacturing issue, the screen protector does not sit flat on the screen. It would cause inaccurate touches, which made typing very difficult. Customer service was fantastic about sending out replacements. But after four cases (original and three replacements), I've given up trying. Aside from the issues with the screen protector, the case is great.
Pros: Durable

In regards to the screen protector being a hassle, is it easily removeable?

After reading reviews about the screen protector making the phone difficult to use due to an air-gap in the fitment, my question is whether that built-in screen protector could easily be removed from the case and if I could just apply my own stand-alone screen protector from another manufacturer?
Very easy to remove. Just separate the case, hold the front part, and push on the protector at one of the edges. It is held in place by a thin strip of double sided tape. Once you have it separated, just work your way around the cover until the whole thing is out.
